Sage Green Scarf!
Overview
As I mentioned in the preview, this is my first ever crochet project that was completed! I learned crocheting a while ago (I want to say 2010... my aunt Angela taught me) but it never stuck with me. I think I made a headband in the fifth grade and gave one away to a friend?? I remember wearing something crocheted, but I wouldn't really count it as my first project.
I really don't know what inspired me to make this. It was either crochet-tok or Pinterest showing me outfit inspo with people wearing scarfs, but at some point I decided I needed a scarf... little did I know this simple project would turn into this full-time hobby.
Materials used
This project was made using things I already have! It was very simple and easy.
- 15 mm hook (recommended a small hook!!)
- "Just Yarn" Light Green/Sage-Colored yarn
- Scissors (for any cutting)
In terms of a tutorial, I free-handed it. I started off by making a slip knot and chaining either 16 or 18 single crochets, flip and single crochet into the original row (keeping in mind to crochet the same amount of stitches in the base chain), and repeat until desired length (or for me, when the yarn ran out!!) *
Final Review
This project gets...
☆☆☆☆☆ 5 STARS!!!!!
I really enjoyed the project, more so, the end result. Was it extremely time-consuming? Yes. But was it worth it? YES! It keeps me warm, it's super stylish (I have paired it with many color combos and different outfits it never misses), and it's soft and comfy.
Final Verdict- "Would do [the project] again!"
Things to keep in mind for the future
I don't have many complaints about this project. These are just things to have in mind for my next project, especially since as I write this, I am making a VERY big project... stay tuned! *wink wink*
Pros
Commitment!! I was committed to starting the project and finishing it. When I wasn't living my best city girl life, I was crocheting. It took me a couple hours the day before our NYC trip, both 6 hour car rides (a nap in the first one though...), as well as an additional hour when I got home to finish it.
Cons
Since it was my first project, I was bound to make some mistakes. The base of the project, I believe, was either 16 or 18 single crochets long, however, during the project sometimes I lost count and added extra rows. I don't think it's that noticeable, but some rows are a bit longer than others. I think it adds to the personalized nature of the scarf; if I had bought a scarf using this pattern at the store it would be perfectly stitched with no mistakes, however, mine is unique and I like that imperfect nature. :))
