White Ivy Top!

Overview

I was originally making this big sweater (too small, did not fit well- no blog post 😢) when I came across this tutorial on YouTube!! I really wanted to make it, but did not want to deviate from my original project.

As soon as I finished my sweater (after it did not yield the results I had expected), I quickly started making this top. I made a green one at first, but I ran out of yarn so it's cropped (gifting to my friend Gauri!) I finished this project in ONE DAY, partly because it was spring break. Nevertheless, it was worth it!

Materials used

love love love

This project was made using things I already have! It was very simple and easy.

  • 5.5 mm hook
  • "Lion Brand Pound Of Love Yarn" White yarn
  • Scissors (for any cutting)

In terms of a tutorial, I used this incredible tutorial by Kamryn Cain. She has a lot of great crochet tutorials. I followed the majority of the steps, modifying some (i.e. I did not do the rim around the edge of the double crochet section, I tied the straps on, etc.) It took me a day to make!

Final Review

This project gets...

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 STARS!!!!!

Arguably one of my favorite crochet projects I have ever made. I need to make this again in another color! Also this is the perfect gift for a birthday gift because (in my opinion) it was quick and easy to make.

Final Verdict- "I need this in every color!"

Things to keep in mind for the future

I don't have many complaints about this project. These are just things to have in mind for my next project, especially since as I write this, I am making a VERY big project... stay tuned! *wink wink*

Pros

Such an easy and quick top to make. It also only required two main types of stitches (besides single chains), so it was repetitive. I also made it while watching television (I was extremely invested but also don't remember what I was watching...) I wore it out the other day (May 11) for the first time since the weather is getting warmer (beware of tanning in it...) It is super comfy! Did I get some stares because of the open back? Yes. Was I uncomfortable? Yes. But am I proud of making it, and would I wear it again? Yes. #stopstaring

Cons

THE STRAPS! I need to make them more secure in the future because one of them literally came undone mid-date 🪿 (it's ok, it was funny.) Also this is a me problem but when wearing the top make sure to adjust the back strings tight for the proper support (iykyk). I did not make it as tight as I should've because I did not take into consideration the fact that the yarn would stretch.

Cupcake! 🧁

I hope you enjoyed the blog post!
